Additional Discounts on 2011 Pre-Orders

Update 5 Feb 2011: Amazon dropped a few more percent discount for some pre-order art books.

The usual discount rate on Amazon is 34%. I've found out that some of the upcoming art books have additional discounts.

If you've already pre-ordered these, you might want to compare the price you pre-ordered at with the ones I've listed below.

I'm not sure if Amazon will automatically update your order with the lowest price, but you can always cancel and pre-order again — I do that all the time when I see price changes prior to shipping. You can save a few dollars for that extra trouble.

Some of these books you'll have to wait a few months before they come out.

Greetings,

thanks for the head up though usually amazon has their pre-order-price-guarantee
if you pre-order and in the time between the date of your pre-order and the release the price drops, you automatically get the lower price and/or a refund.

However, I once had to let amazon.de know about that... I was watching the price like a hawk, deciding between keeping the pre-order or cancelling my preoder with amazon.de and instead ordering from amazon.co.uk. But there was a drop in price, so I thought 'fine', let's stick with it then, I get refunded, but they charged the full price. After emails to the help desk things were sorted out thought.

There are sites where you can keep track of prices on various amazon sites, though it requires registration I think.

Great post. I got a couple in.

If you pre-order and the price dips further it doesn't show up on your order/invoice and you eventually get charged the amount you preordered at. However, Amazon will issue a manual refund of the difference after the book has shipped.

I have high hopes for "The Art of Alice: Madness Returns"... The price on Amazon is pretty awesome, but together with shipping charges for my country (Romania), it adds up to more than the price on BookDepository.
