Book Review: Botanical Sketchbooks
Botanical Sketchbooks is a book that features the botany art of artists from the 1600s to early 1900s. Collected within are scans of selected pages from the sketchbooks of these artists who are featured one by one in the book.
The quality of the scans is quite good. You can tell the artworks are created long ago because all the pages are yellowish. But thankfully, the hand drawn botany artworks still appear sharp and reproduce well on these printed pages. Some of the original art appear faded but that's not too surprising as they are quite old. There is a lot of text in the book that come in the form of artist profiles that talk about the type of work the artist is known for.

Do you know if both books are exactly the same? The Thames and Hudson copy is more expensive and has a different front cover. They were just published one month apart. Thanks, I always enjoy your book reviews. Liz
