Book Review: Batman: The Definitive History of the Dark Knight in Comics, Film, and Beyond
This is a humongous 400-page hardcover that's probably a must-buy for all Batman fans. This is definitely the definitive history of Batman to date.
This book tries to cover a lot and it does a good job. It covers the different medium Batman has appeared in from the first appearance in comics in 1939, to TV shows, animation, movies and video games. There lots of beautiful huge artworks, storyboards, comics and photos. It's very interesting to see how Batman has evolved over the decades. And I still get a chuckle each time I see Lego Batman.
The commentary is extensive with artists, directors and creatives such as Neal Adams, Tim Burton, Paul Dini, Steve Englehart, Mark Hamill, Grant Morrison, Jule Newmar, Christopher Nolan, Denny O'Neil, Joe Schumacher, Scott Synder and Zack Synder.
This is the best book to learn all about Batman. Author Andrew Farago has done an incredible job with this book. Just the sheer size of the book is enough to put a smile on any Batman fan.
Highly recommended.
