Book Review: Beginner's Guide to Drawing Manga
Beginner's Guide to Drawing Manga is an accessible introduction to creating manga character designs.
The 196-page paperback is published by 3Dtotal Publishing with tutorial contributions from several artists.
The book covers most of the basic knowledge that beginners would need to know, such as the drawing tools needed, manga style, drawing techniques and research. The basic fundamentals of drawing or creating art is quite elementary so you'll definitely need to complement this book with other more detailed instructional artbooks.
The book's informative and packed with useful and practical tips for beginners. There are traditional media tutorials and digital art ones created with Clip Studio Paint. You don't really need Clip Studio Paint specifically since the techniques can be created with other drawing apps.
Half the book's on character design tutorials with plenty of examples and guidance. The best way to learn is with hands-on practice. You can follow and draw the same characters, or come up with your own creations.
