Book Review: Black Book: The Art of Bart Sears
Here's another hardcover from the Black Book series published by Ominous Press. The other books featured so far are Jim Starlin and Graham Nolan.
Bart Whitman Sears is an American comics artist, toy and packaging designer and author. He started his career in comics by knocking on the door of Marvel Comics after driving six hours from Syracuse, NY to New York City. Ominous Press is actually Bart Sears' company.
In this book you'll see mostly pencils and inks of his comic art, unpublished works and private commissions.
There are
- Unpublished works for Wizard, Marvel Shadows and Light
- Weapon X: Days of Future Now
- Blade
- Sabretooth
- Justice League Europe
- Captain America and Falcon
- Legends of the Dark Knight
- X-O Manowar
- Video game character and location designs
- Toy designs
There are more titles I've not listed. This guy has done a lot of work.
The art looks fantastic. The details, style and techniques are top notch.
It's a great book if you're fan of Bart Sears. Only downside is there are only 108-pages.
