Book Review: DC Comics Cover Art
DC Comics Cover Art: 350 of the Greatest Covers in DC's History features the significant and impactful DC Comics covers from 1938 to 2020. The covers are grouped chronologically according to the different Ages: Golden (1938-1956), Silver (1956-1970), Bronze (1970-1986), Steel (1986-2010) and Modern (2011-present).
The book's a large format 240-page hardcover with good production quality. The covers, even the really old ones, are reproduced surprisingly well. There are pages with one cover, others with two or three (smaller). Each cover is accompanied by a paragraph talking about the significance, the artists or the characters. More text could have been included though since there's still a good amount of white space left on most pages.
Older DC fans should find the older covers nostalgic while newer fans can look back at the early covers and see how the art, stories and characters have evolved over the years.
