Book Review: Invictus Designs: The Art of Victor Marin
Thanks to Victor Marin who mailed me his artbook for today's feature.
Victor Marin is a digital and traditional sculptor, concept artist and art director based in Spain. His company Invictus Designs creates concept art, sculptures, toys for film, advertisers, collectors, galleries and more.
Collected within this 98-page A5-sized paperback are selected works from over 2 decades of his career. There's a mixture of fanart and original works. The bulk of artworks are actually sculptures. Beautiful fanart sculptures, such as for comic characters, e.g. Mr Sinister or for film, Tooth Fairy from Hellboy 2 and many more. The level of detail and the rendering are top notch. They are also one of a kind because they are fanart.
There are a few concept art pieces and the subject matter is a bit random. Some of the styles are simple, there's LEGO, and there's also those pop toys or more realistic sculpts that look like creatures that could be used in Lord of the Rings.
I like the variety of work featured and in particular the sculpts because they look so dimensional. Anyway, you can check out many of the artworks on Invictus Designs' website as well.
The book is priced at USD $39.95 and includes international shipping. You can get it at https://invictus-designs.com/artbook
