Book Review: Kopi Thiam since 1998 by James Suresh and Adam Lee
Kopi Thiam is a collection of comic strips published by The New Paper (Singapore) and The Star (Malaysia) almost twenty years ago. The creators are author James Suresh and illustrator Adam Lee. James Suresh also happens to be the co-creator of Mr Kiasu and has authored many books. Adam Lee is an artist with decades of experience working in the newspaper industry.
The idea for Kopi Thiam was conceived more than 20 years ago. Kopi Thiam in case you don't know actually refers to coffee shops in Singapore. In this book, Mr and Mrs Thiam also happen to be the owners of the coffee shop. The story is about the interesting people and friends who meet at the coffee shop to chit chat.
Even though the comic strips are now almost 2 decades old, the jokes are still quite funny. The comic strips have aged well compared to the Mr Kiasu comic strips. The characters drawn by Adam Lee are lively and funny. There are lots of misadventures and incidents in the coffee shop.
It's a nice book for those who want a few chuckles and some amusement.
