Book Review: New Botanical Painting by Harriet De Winton
New Botanical Painting is an instructional artbook by watercolour artist Harriet De Winton on how to draw botanical art.
This is a 128-page paperback with 30 step-by-step projects to follow along. All projects start with a large artwork so that you can see what you are going to draw. Colours used are listed and the instructions are clear and concise. The examples aren't particularly complicated so they should be easy to draw. This is a good for beginners.
You'll get to draw tulips, rose, daisy, dahlia, ranunculus, peony, astrantia, sea thistle, cherry blossom, ferns, eucalyptus, ferns, palms, wreaths, house plans and many more. All the examples look beautiful.
You can't go wrong with this book if you want to learn botanical art. If you want even more practice, check out Modern Watercolor Botanicals: A Creative Workshop in Watercolor, Gouache, & Ink by Sarah Simon too.
