Book Review: Star Trek: 50 Artists 50 Years
This book is huge! Large than I expected. It measures almost 14 by 10 inches!
This book and the artworks are commissioned by CBS to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Star Trek. It's also meant to collect the exhibited artworks featured at the Star Trek Official Convention Las Vegas.
This is essentially a book of fan art by artists over the world. Each artist's work is given a generous full page treatment, and there are preliminary sketches included. There's also an interview with the artists on what Star Trek meant to them, and they would go on to talk about their artworks.
I love the variety of art featured. They are created in different medium and styles according to the artist's interpretation. Some went for vector illustrations, others realistic portraits, posed photos, paintings and even sculptures. They are all beautiful. It would have been awesome if there was actually a poster book edition of this book.
It's a fantastic exhibition companion. I recommend this book to all fans of pop culture and Star Trek.
