Review: Alldocube iPlay 60 Mini Turbo (2024)

Review unit provided by Alldocube

Alldocube iPlay 60 Mini Turbo is a compact and powerful 8.4-inch Android 14 tablet released in September 2024. Price at time of review is USD 179.

This is an upgrade over the earlier iPlay mini series tablets but there are also some downgrades. The notable upgrade is the use of Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor which provides more responsive performance than earlier models. Downgrades would be the removal of the SD card slot, no support for cellular and there's only 128GB of storage.

I've been using this tablet for five months now and it performs really well, and hence it's really worth the money.

Video review

This video review below will cover more than what I've written for the text review.

There aren't many powerful compact lightweight Android tablets that are below the USD 180 price point. I find this to be a tablet I pick up quite frequently, sometimes more so compare to the larger tablet simply because it's so easy to handle. Sometimes when you just want to check your email, or social media, maybe watch a video that suddenly think of, you don't need that big a tablet.

Web browsing speed is fast. Actually almost everything is responsive so I actually with there's 120Hz instead of the 60Hz refresh rate to make this tablet feel even faster.

Audio quality from the stereo speakers is alright. It's not that loud but there's clarity. Bass is missing, not surprising. But at least the audio does not sound hollow, which is a huge downside.

This tablet can be used an e-reader too if you don't mind reading on an LCD display. One downside is I can already see slight yellowing at the edges of the LCD. It's subtle and thankfully not that obvious. But I can't help but wonder if the display will yellow much faster.

Auto-brightness always seems to default to higher than usual, which is probably better than default to lower than usual. The LCD has good colours and the brightness is high, and I usually set brightness manually to a lower value.

Weight of 323g is considered lightweight. There is a screen protector already applied. Given the low price point of the tablet,

I'm not fussy about the scratches that the tablet may collect without a case. The rear camera's lens already has many scratches. The company probably used plastic for the lens cover because how would glass scratch that easily?

I definitely prefer reaching for the tablet over my phone at home thanks to the much larger size but I won't want to use my larger 11-inch iPad Pro unless I have specific use for a larger display, e.g. drawing.

When you get the, make sure you update the firmware or OS. The initial firmware has issues with Youtube app freezing often, but that problem has been resolved.

The Alldocube iPlay 60 Mini Turbo provides good value for money. And right now it's just less than USD 150 on AliExpress.

This is a tablet I can recommend easily as long as you don't mind the 128GB internal storage, and the lack of cellular support.
