Review: SOUNDPEATS Capsule3 Pro+ Wireless Earbuds

Review sample provided by SOUNDPEATS

SOUNDPEATS Capsule3 Pro+ is a pair of wireless earphones with ANC selling at USD 89 (even cheaper on Amazon US).

Bottom line

The audio quality is pretty good. There's good clarity, decent amount of bass and some soundstage. Active noise cancelling (ANC) works quite well but not as effective when cancelling out high frequency noises. Battery life with ANC is around 4hr+ and you can get a few more charges with the carrying case.

Downsides? Main one is there's no proximity sensor so when you remove the earbuds from your ear, whatever you're playing will still be playing before you put the earbuds back into the case.

The SOUNDPEATS Capsule3 Pro+ provides a lot of value for money simply because of its affordable price point. This is something I can recommend easily to friends.

Design

Charging case is compact, lightweight (48g with earbuds) and portable. Build quality feels solid. Cover snaps shut tightly with magnets. On the front are words "Hear your imagination" written in fancy font, and the SOUNDPEATS branding is behind.

USB-C charging port is located at the bottom and beside it is the Bluetooth pairing button. Press and hold the Bluetooth pairing button to pair. Bluetooth pairing and reconnection is fast. There's Bluetooth multiple feature where you can pair to two devices. If dual device pairing does not work, you may have to enable that in the SOUNDPEATS app.

The earbuds are available only in black with bronze accents. Design looks good to me. Silicone ear tips are soft but not too soft. You'll have to fit the earbuds properly to get a proper seal to get proper sound isolation.

The earbuds have IPX4 rating that protects against water splashes but not submersion.

Touch shortcuts can be customised with the app.

App

The app allows you to control ANC and Transparency (voice pass through), game mode, touch controls, touch shortcuts, dual device connection and customise the EQ.

Audio quality

Bluetooth codes supported are LDAC,SBC,AAC. The earbuds comes with xMEMS Speaker& 12mm dynamic driver.

The audio quality is impressive for earbuds at this price point. There's good clarity, decent amount of base and some soundstage. I don't think it's as good as the Samsung Buds2 Pro I reviewed in 2022, but for the price point it's really good. In other words, I really enjoy listening with these earbuds.

Active noise cancelling works well. Low frequency noise can be cancelled quite effectively. High frequency noise cancelling is not as good. For example, I can still hear car wheels running on wet ground, plastic bags rustling, trains pulling into the station, and the sharp noise when closing cover of the charging case.

Battery life with ANC enabled with 4hr+, and without is 6hr+. Total battery life with the charging case according to the company is 43 hours. I've been using the earphones for the past two months and I find battery life to be sufficient.

Conclusion

I was actually looking for something to replace my Sony WF-1000XM3 wireless earphones which currently only has 1hr+ battery life with ANC enabled. Launch price for the Sony earbuds was USD 230. I really don't want to spend more than USD 100 to buy another pair of earbuds only to have the battery life deteriorate with years of usage. I also have a pair of LG Tone Free T90Q wireless earbuds that was selling at USD 230 and after a year of use, the battery life with ANC is just 2hr+. Give it another year and I expect even shorter battery life. This is the problem with small battery capacity.

I like these earphones. I like the quality of the audio and ANC. Main downside is there's no proximity sensor that pauses your media when you take the earbuds out from your ear. Another minor downside which happens rarely is sometimes Bluetooth connection is not disconnected even with the earbuds in the charging case -- strange.

Can I recommend these earphones? Absolutely. They provide good value for money. It's great to see that cheap earphones are getting so good nowadays.
