Book Review: Hanok: The Korean House

Hanok: The Korean House - 01

This book is provided by Tuttle Publshing for this review. I like architecture books but I don't usually buy them as I tend to borrow them from the library.

In Hanok: The Korean House, the book traces the history of traditional Korean houses and how they have evolved in modern times.

The book features 12 houses, each with a specific aesthetic in design. But generally speaking, all the houses share common architectural style, such as the use of tilted tiled roofs, lots of wood and minimalism for interiors.

The houses are breathtakingly beautiful. I'm jealous of people who live there after looking at the wonderful photographs. The exteriors are beautiful and the interiors are properly furnished with modern furnishings. There's a sense of minimalism in some, while others actually look quite cosy. And I love the use of wood which makes everything feel so homely.

There are lots of lovely photographs with accompanied captions for you to learn more about how the owners designed their houses, and also the inspiration behind.

It's a very beautiful book.
