Book Review: Joe Weatherly Sketchbook Volume 1
This isn't a very big or thick book at 108 pages. However, Joe Weatherly has filled it with cool animal sketches, paintings and figure drawings drawn mostly on location at zoos, museums and figure drawing classes. A variety of mediums including ink, watercolor and oil paint are used.
These sketches represent exploration and experimentation. The sketchy lines sometimes captures the gesture, sometimes highlights the textures and other times cross hatched as shadows to show the form. They are raw, not highly rendered, but still manages to capture the essence of the idea, the beauty of his subjects.
It's a nice inspiring little sketchbook.
You'll also want to check out his other book Animal Essence: The Art of Joe Weatherly, which at the same price packs almost twice as much beautiful animal art.

@semphora
You're actually helping me out by pointing out the broken links. It's not working because the book's not available on Amazon Germany. These links are generated as a batch and sometimes I forget to check if the book's available on all the sites.
Thanks for pointing that out.
