Book Review: CFSL.NET: Café Salé (CFSL) Artbook 04
The fourth annual art book of Café Salé (CFSL) is as thick as volume 3, at a 304 pages. This time, over 4000 pieces were submitted, of which less than 10% are included here. A total of 162 artists are featured.
The usual three categories of art are scenes, characters and miscellaneous. The variety is immense. There are sci-fi background paintings, comic-style art, sketches, fan art, loads of characters in different settings, worlds, and across different genres. All are printed on good low gloss paper, and most are printed huge. Nice.
The illustrations are really beautiful. There are lots of styles to see, ranging from the brightly coloured to the darker pieces (strangely many are from sci-fi art). I like the ones with the textural feel of the medium. Some of the black and white sketches felt unfinished to be included though, especially when compared to the other illustrations.
At the back of the book is the artist index with websites provided for you to check out more art.
This is a refreshing and inspiring book from the French art community. Highly recommended.

I've already got the first three, so this will be an easy buy for me. I love the quantity as well as the quality of art in each book. Such amazing talent from the cfsl community. Thanks as always for the review Parka.

I have yet to save up for the others, but desperately want them eventually. They are definitely on my to-buy list, but they're lower down since they aren't as quick to afford as some others I have on my list.
Thanks for the heads up, and for info on these great books I might've missed out on otherwise.
Thanks a lot !
