Book Review: Final Fantasy XIII: The Official Complete Guide (Collector's Edition)

Final Fantasy XIII: The Official Complete Guide (Collector's Edition)

This isn't the review but a brief overview of what's inside the book. I'll post a full review once I finish the book, which will take me a while to go through, and I've to go through the game as well. Anyway, plenty of reviews on the guide are already out on Amazon.

The important thing to note about this collector's edition is, it's numbered and limited in quantity. The print run is 210,000 copies. Mine's numbered 82,293. If you're reading this now, stocks are dwindling in the real world which makes it really hard to find. If you can do without the hardcover and the story recap with screenshots, then you still have the standard edition to count on.

Here's my first impression after flipping through the book. It's very thick at 272 pages because they really use good paper stock. Pictures are generally in high resolution, of which most are actually screenshots. There's no art section, and the only thing that comes close is the story recap at the back which is accompanied, again, by screenshots.

By the way, this guide is also available in different languages beside English.

Thanks for this review! Its a big relief, as the only interest I had of buying this was the thought of it being an art book as well, as its something I have been waiting ages for a final fantasy game to produce.

I swear I heard there was an art book though for this game...or did I just confuse it with this?

so you know how it says the Ce edition is numbered due to limited #, well i pre ordered mine but i cant find where my book number is help?

That is one gorgeous guide book!!! Complete with hard cover, it looks more like an expensive art book (though I bet this also didnt have a cheap price tag). Anyways, your art book reviews are always so extensive, picture-wise. Which is good cus I LUV lots o pictures :)

Just like the other person up there, I preordered mine as well, and there is no number stamped on this thing, nothing on the inside covers or anywhere!

I have a very low number - it's actually just number 5, but it is something like 00005 but I forget how many zeros as it is not to hand at the moment. The strange thing is, I only got it today off ebay (March 2011), shrink wrapped and new...so the seller must have had it a while. Usually low numbers of limited prints are worth a lot of money in the future. Hopefully it will help pay my grandkids trough collage or something one day....LOL
