Book Review: EXPOSE 10: The Finest Digital Art in the Known Universe

This year's the tenth anniversary of EXPOSE artbook series. An incredible amount of artwork has been put out since EXPOSE 1. There were only a few categories then compared to the 20 featured in this volume.

This volume has 284 pages. As usual, Ballistic Publishing has it in leather-bound limited edition, hardcover and the normal paperback. The copy I have is the paperback edition and the binding is great. The price difference between the hardcover and paperback isn't too much so it might be worth getting the hardcover.

The size of the categories depend on the submissions and this year they have a new category called Portrait (Illustration). That's in addition to Portrait (Painted) and Portrait (Rendered). Illustration is more stylistic as compared to Painted which is more realistic.

Jim Burns is the grand master together with 20 Master Award winners.

It's awe-inspiring looking at the art, variety and talent. There are 548 images in total.

I always enjoy the architecture category. The beautiful designs are almost beyond reality. The concept art, environment and matte painting pieces are stunning too. There are lots of detail to marvel at.

What's most impressive is of course the imaginative minds of the artists. The ideas, design and execution are wonderful. Standards are high. Some artists really took advantage of the extra vibrancy and resolution provided by the digital art medium.

This is a worthy tenth anniversary to EXPOSE, an inspiring tribute to digital art.
