Book Review: The Movie Posters of Drew Struzan
I bought this book after The Art of Drew Struzan (2010). There is some duplication, as expected, but there are also a few pieces I've not seen before.
The illustrations are arranged alphabetically which is unusual if you're expecting it to be chronological. They are actually without the movie details, the credits and all that promotional stuff.
The art is incredible - we're talking about Drew Struzan after all. Most of them are full-page illustrations, there aren't any sketches. You will be able to recognize box office hits like Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, Star Wars Trilogy and many other lesser known movies (whose titles I've never heard of). There are even illustrations for non-human characters like those he drew for the Muppets movies, Disney's Pocahontas and Beauty and the Beasts or even Jurassic Park: The Lost World. Those certainly feel very different.
The only text in the book is the introduction and a few pages of biography.
Fantastic book from one of the best illustrators around. However, if you can only get one book, then you should still get The Art of Drew Struzan.
