Book Review: The Paintbrush Playbook: 44 Exercises for Swooshing, Dancing, and Making Dazzling Art With Your Brush
Paintbrush playbook is a casual activity book for people to have fun painting with brushes, or a book to occupy kids with.
For a book that talks about brushes, I find it surprising there aren't any pages dedicated to showing the different types of brushes available in the market. Instructions like "use a flat brush" or "use a waterbrush" assume you know what those brushes are.
This book is not about teaching painting techniques. It's about using different brushes to create different marks, styles, patterns. The instructions are brief and does not go beyond explaining the art concepts behind.
There are 96 pages and half of those pages are blank for you to paint on. The paper used is those matte white paper and most of the exercises include using watercolour paint so you can imagine how the paper is going to soak and buckle.
As the title of the book suggest, it's a book about fun and play. You don't need to know anything about art to enjoy the exercises.
