Book Review: Surf's Up: The Art and Making of a True Story
This book follows the scrapbook styles of The Art & Making of Monster House and The Art of Open Season. It comes with little booklets, postcards and other surprises within the pages.
It's a hardcover book that's housed in a plastic cover. Glorious illustrations, character designs, story boards and 3D renders fill the pages. Story boards are beautifully painted. There plenty of penguin character designs and they look great.
The book's layout is beautiful, very much like magazine style, and each page has plenty of interesting stuff to see. I like that the use of brush strokes on the page layouts that give it a very energetic feel.
Commentary are short and interesting to read.
This is one of the better 3D animation art books.
