Book Review: Tech Noir: The Art of James Cameron
This book is an eye opener for me. I didn't know James Cameron is an artist, and he's a pretty good artist.
This book is written in first person with James Cameron going over his influences, the artworks he has created over the years prior to directing movies, and the concept art he has created for his movies. There is a lot to see and read. It's incredibly inspiring to see how much work has been done over the decades, and of course the limitless creativity and imagination.
There are plenty of sketches, comic panels, movie posters, Burne Hogarth style figure drawings, fine art style figure drawings, fantasy art, syd mead style sci fi art, storyboards, designs for characters and creatures and more. And all were drawn traditionally with pencils, ink, paint, pastels.
This book is totally not what I expected because it shows a side of James Cameron that most people won't know of. It's a terrific book for fans of James Cameron and his movies.

In the old Terminator-2
In the old Terminator-2 Special Issue Starlog magazine, there are some of these drawings included in the book, I didn´t know Cameron is the author of these.
As always, thanks a lot Parka, I´ll check this when I can. Greetings.

Yes, I agree those art books weren´t what one person may expect from those great movies.
Anyway, check the last book "The Art of Batman", there are a lot of pictures, art concept and drawings as well. You´l be please to see its content. I think in youtube are some reviews, while we wait the Parka´s point of view.
I checked the book here in a store in México City, really it´s worth it´s price.
