Review: SanDisk Extreme PRO USB 3.2 Solid State Flash Drive
The Sandisk Extreme PRO Solid State Flash Drive with USB 3.2 is a huge upgrade over the very common USB 3.0 and USB 3.1 thumb drives.
The prices (USD) on Amazon are as follows at the time of review:
- 128GB - $34.99
- 256GB - $59.99
- 512GB - $89.99
- 1TB - $116.99
I purchased my 1TB model from Amazon Singapore for SGD 205. Price at time of review is SGD 169. It's way more expensive on Shopee SG.
Below are the transfer speeds for Windows and Mac:
Windows
Mac
Transfer speed is faster on Windows than on a Mac.
One downside is this thumb drive can get quite hot so be careful when detaching it right after it has been transferring for a long time. I don't recommend using this thumb drive for video editing because it can get hot and the transfer speed can get throttled.
Just for comparison purposes, the Samsung T7 with 1TB and 2TB are US $89 and $159 respectively. The Samsung T7 has better transfer speed and heat control. The Sandisk is more compact and does not require a cable but the connector is USB-A and can suffer from heat throttling.
The selling point here is you don't need a cable, because if you don't mind the cable, the Samsung T7 provides more value for money.
