Book Review: ストリートファイター4/スーパーストリートファイター4 オフィシャルコンプリートワークス (Street Fighter 4/Super Street Fighter 4 Official Complete Works)

This is the Japanese art book for Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV. It doesn't have the 4 extra characters that came with the Arcade Edition, hopefully the last edition.

The book's a 176-page paperback. Inside it's mainly character art. The illustrations will look vaguely familiar if you have other Street Fighter art books.

I've seen some of the art appearing in SF20: The Art of Street Fighter, specifically the character splash art with the energetic black brush strokes. Those are printed larger in this book than in SF20.

The art's mainly sketches with colours. The alternate costumes are pretty amusing to look at. Other materials included are the ending animation screenshots, background designs, some ads designs of characters selling food, storyboards and an interview with the producer.

Street Fighter character concept designs don't really vary too much. The characters are already designed, so design variations are going to be minor. I fear that might be the same for Street Fighter V.

If you don't want to get all the Street Fighter books, I would recommend SF20 and the refreshing Street Fighter Tribute drawn by fans.
