Book Review: The Art of Magic: The Gathering - Kaladesh
The artbooks that were released recently for Magic the Gathering are some of the very best fantasy artbooks available. I've previously released Innistrad and Zendikar. Amonkhet is coming in July 2017.
The artworks featured in this artbook are from the Kaladesh expansion block which consists of Kaladesh and Aether Revolt.
As someone who used to play their cards, I've often wondered about the stories behind the characters, creatures or places shown on the card. While there aren't any dedicated artbooks released from the earliest card sets, it's great that WotC are releasing artbooks for their recent sets. So now, players can get to enjoy the art and stories that are created for this world.
For those who want to read about the creative process when it comes to designing the world, there are only a few appendix pages talking about that. It involves a lot of research. There are employees around the work who would check on the work to make sure there aren't any sensitive issues relating to sacred imagery.
This is a fantastic book. Highly recommended to all MtG fans and those who like fantasy art.
