Book Review: Gouache in 4 Easy Steps: A Beginner's Guide to Creating Beautiful Paintings in No Time
Anna Koliadych is an artist, author and teacher who uses gouache and watercolour. Her earlier book was 15-Minute Watercolor Masterpieces.
Gouache in 4 Easy Steps is a beginner's guide to learning gouache with 50 hands-on exercises. The book talks briefly about gouache, colour mixing and basic techniques at the start, then goes quickly into the painting exercises.
The painted subjects include landscapes, flowers, leaves and plants, patterns, birds, insects, desserts, fruits and vegetables and some cute sundries. All the supplies and colours needed are listed for each exercise. The tutorials are all guided with step-by-step pictures with clear and concise instructions. The best way to learn art is through practicing and you will get a lot of practice with this book.
This is a great book to get you up to speed with using gouache quickly. You don't need to know anything about drawing or art to get started.
