Book Review: Just Draw Fineliner Art: Incredible Illustrations Crafted With Fineliner Pens
Just Draw Fineliner Art is a 208-page paperback artbook that features 85 pieces of fineliner art from contemporary artists.
I bought this book because it's in the same presentation style and handbook-sized format of earlier artbooks that I like, namely
- Drawn from Life
- Just Add Watercolour
- Freehand: Sketching Tips and Tricks Drawn from Art
- Pen & Ink: Contemporary Artists, Timeless Techniques
Each artwork is featured on the right page with a short description, drawing tip and the supplies used on the other page. There's a good variety of styles featured.
Fineliner pens, in case you don't know, can also be called a technical pen and features, usually, a needle point tip that allows you to draw lines with uniform thickness. Drawing lines with consistent thickness can sometimes look monotonous, but in this book you get to see how different artists take advantage of this exact feature of fineliners to create some really beautiful artworks. Some of stylised, some are incredibly detailed. This book also features digital fineliner art as well. It's inspiring to see what the artists can come up with, and you can search the artists' names to see more of their works online.
This is a nice book for those into fineliners, multiliners or pen and ink art.
