Book Review: USHIMITSUDOKI - Midnight - Art Collection of Daisuke Richard
USHIMITSUDOKI - Midnight - is a collection of schoolgirl art that Daisuke Richard has drawn in 2019 and 2020. I've featured his earlier artbook SUISO which also features similar subject matter so you can think of this book as a continuation.
Even though this book features schoolgirls, there's nothing erotic about the book. There are no erotic poses or suggestions. I guess Daisuke Richard just like to draw schoolgirls, and the art looks great.
The character poses are dynamic, lively and believable. There's something very real about the art even though everything's drawn from imagination. While you can't really see the faces of the girls, there's actually a lot going with the character design, more specifically the fashion design, the clothes and uniforms they wear, and the bags they carry. The line art is delicate with attention to the details.
The colour palette is also interesting. The colours are mostly shades of pink, magenta or blue. This colour scheme creates a consistent look and style that's recognisable. And this colour scheme works really well.
This is a beautiful artbook.
