Hi Parka, Here's my list for
Hi Parka,
Here's my list for the contest. Thanks for having it. A truly a generous move by you.
1. Totoro Forest Project
I’ve heard so much about this book. The creative efforts of many artists saving a Japanese forest are great. Forests are my favorite environments. They’re such special, mysterious places inspiring some of my own work. The anticipation is killing me.
2. Exodyssey: Visual Development of an Epic Adventure
Seeing concept to full story realization by established artists really intrigued me. It is one of the best, detailed works also serving as a learning guide for someone wanting to learn the process of realizing his or her own stories and design.
3. Massive Black: Volume 1
Massive Black is one of the most profound concept art companies out there. To see a variety of their best work in a high quality book format was irresistible.
For the prize: The Amazon gift certificate. It would definitely help out with an upcoming photo equipment purchase.

3 favorite art books from 2009
1. Exodyssey: For the amount of quality done for their 'side' project made it more enjoyable as well as the range of styles are breathtaking. Love the narrative of the characters in their environments the best.
2. Imaginative Realism: Amazing resource full of insights and education to bring to life what we've always wanted but never asked for. From classic to modern references we can apply now.
3. Alien Race: Lots of development work from top talented students with an amazing sense of ideation and original I.P. that take it to a whole new level.
I love soaking up all the gorgeous art from art books and I collect quite a few as well. I recently got the highly anticipated movie (who had probably the most concept artists on a movie) book, The Art of Avatar, and was so excited as well as disappointed because they hardly credited anyone, and they left out 'Years' of concept work. I still enjoyed it for what it is, as well as the movie.
I would love a $40 Amazon.com gift certificate as the Prize.
Thanks Parka!
