Discreet Charm Under the Banyan Tree
Under the Banyan Tree is an outdoor movie screening by the National Museum of Singapore on every last weekend of the month.
I was there for a screening today and drew a quick sketch before the sky quickly turned dark. The place was packed. The movie shown today was The Discreet Charm Of The Bourgeoisie, a French oldie directed by Luis Buñuel. Apparently, it's a highly rated film but I just don't get the humour.
While most were watching the film intently, I spotted quite a lot of people just laying on the grass and hanging out but not watching the movie. I guess people just need a reason to hang out at the museum. It's a great move on the part of the museum to get people to visit, even if they don't venture into the galleries.
For the sketch, I used Noodler's Bulletproof Black ink, Artgraf watersoluble graphite and I added the dark darks with a brush pen.
