High speed wireless iPad Pro charging with Pitaka MagEZ Case Pro

Update May 2024: This stand is not compatible with the 2024 iPad Pro

High speed wireless iPad Pro charging is now possible with the Pitaka MagEZ Case Pro. The charging speed is as high as your charger can go.

This review is a follow-up to the earlier review I wrote for the Pitaka MagEZ Case 2, Folio and Charging Stand. To summarise that review in one sentence: these are iPad Pro accessories that can work together.

The difference between the charging case (MagEZ Case Pro) and non charging case (MagEZ Case 2) is the addition of charging connectors on the back of the case. The X shape design can be placed whichever orientation onto the MagEZ charging stand.

Prices for all the accessories are as follows:

  • MagEZ charging stand - US $99
  • MagEZ Case 2 (non-charging) - US $79
  • MagEZ Case Pro (charging) - US $89
  • MagEZ Folio - US $39

If you want to get the MagEZ charging stand, you should get the MagEZ Case Pro since it's just $10 extra compared to the non-charging case.

The iPad models supported by MagEZ Case Pro are:

  • 11-inch iPro Pro (2018, 2020, 2021 and 2022)
  • 12.9-inch iPad Pro (2021, 2022)

The 12.9-inch iPad Pros from 2018 and 2020 are not compatible because the MagEZ Case Pro is designed to fit the thicker 12.9-inch iPad Pros with M1 and M2 processors, the iPad Pros from 2021 and 2022.

This case has a USB-C connector at the bottom which is connected to the charging connectors on the back.

That USB-C connector can be pulled out should you want to connect your iPad Pro to other devices with cable.

High speed wireless charging is possible with this case because you're getting wireless and physically connected charging.

The iPad Pro is connected to the USB-C connector, which is connected to the X-shaped charging connectors, which are in contact with the connectors on the stand which is connected to the power source.

The base of the MagEZ stand only delivers 7.5W for iPhone wireless charging and that's considered slow. The iPad Pro however will get the full charging speed from your charger because there's actually a physical connection. This is good design. I can't imagine charging the big battery in an iPad Pro with slow wireless charging.

This product, the case, works as advertised. It is pricey but it is convenient. This is great for those who are into wireless charging, clutter free, cable free setups. The only cable goes to the charging stand.
