An Illustrated Life: Robert Crumb

Robert Crumb website

Robert grew up on or near military bases around the United States. He drew compulsively through his youth, but did not attend art school. He now lives in the South of France in a house he acquired in exchange for several sketchbooks. The pioneer of underground cartooning (Zap, Weirdo, Fritz the Cat, Mr. Natural, etc.), he has also published many volumes of his sketchbooks. His current project is an epic comic-book version of the Book of Genesis. His work can be found in bookstores worldwide, in The New Yorker and at www.rcrumb.com.
