Review: Baseus Bowie M2s wireless earphones with ANC
Cheap and good
The Sony WF-1000XM3 I purchased in 2019 now only has 1 hour of battery life. The original retail price for that was USD 230. The degradation of battery life isn't surprising though.
Fast forward to 2023, I've decided not to spend that much money for disposable wireless earphones so I wanted something cheaper. So I looked on AliExpress and bought the Baseus Bowie M2s for less than USD 30.
Wireless earphones have been in the market for years now so even the cheap ones can be quite good nowadays, and the Baseus Bowie M2s is a pretty good one at USD $20-30. Price can be even lower with Ali coins, shop vouchers and promotion. By the way, these earphones have 2000+ positive reviews on AliExpress.
Bottom line:They are cheap, supports 2 device pairing and has ANC. Audio quality is good but definitely not has high definition compared to more expensive competitors but at the USD 20-30 it is very difficult to complain about the quality. There's a good amount of bass, treble could use slightly more definition and the ANC works quite well. So yes, it's absolutely worth the money, especially for a pair of wireless earphones I know I will throw away in a few years time.

Things included
The packing box actually looks good. It's great that this company did not have any High Def label on the earphones like many competitors that do but don't provide the equivalent quality.
In the box are:
- Charging ase and earphones
- USB-A to USB-C charging cable
- S, M and L ear tips including the installed one
- Stickers
- User guide
You can paste the included stickers on the case to make it clearly which side is the front side.
Design
Design of the case and earphones is clean and simple. Build quality feels solid enough. I don't think they feel cheap except for the soft silicone ear tips which you can probably replace on your own if you want to.
The case is compact and portable. Total battery life with the case is 30 hours. Charging is via USB-C.
The earphones are lightweight and comfortable enough.
There are three ear tip sizes and for my small ears, I'm using the L size. Sound isolation from the sealing is decent but if you want even better sealing you can go with foam ear tips. Sound isolation together with Active Noise Canceling (ANC) works great at blocking out most noise.
These are the customisable touch controls:
- Double tab: Spatial acoustics (default), play/pause, next, previous, voice assistant, low latency mode, ANC, none
- Press and hold: ANC (default), next, previous, voice assistant, spatial acoustic, none
- Tap 3 times: Voice assistant (default), low latency mode
These earphones support Bluetooth multi-point pairing and can pair to two devices. To switch device connection, you just pause the audio from one device, and play audio from the other device.
I was able to get around 5 hours+ battery life without ANC, and just 3.5 hours with ANC. I use the earphones with ANC all the time and since I don't listen to the earphones non-stop for 3.5 hours, I'm satisfied with the battery life which is still long enough for watching a long movie.
Audio quality
For audio quality, you can switch between Normal, Music and Cinematic modes.
There's also option to choose various EQ settings, or you can adjust the EQ curve yourself.
Audio sounds good. There's a good amount of bass. The treble could use a bit more definition. These earphones certainly don't sound as well as the Samsung Bud2 Pro from 2022 but these earphones do not sound bad. Considering the sub USD 30 price point, audio quality is very good, certainly better than those cheap earphones selling at airports.
Conclusion
As mentioned in the bottom line, these are earphones I can recommend easily. They sound good, ANC works great, Bluetooth multi-point pairing is very convenient and they are so affordable.
