Review: Edifier Neobuds Pro TWS ANC earphones
Review unit provided by Edifier
Edifier NeoBuds Pro are True Wireless Stereo (TWS) earphones with active noise cancelling (ANC). There are so many products using the unnecessary TRUE attribute for marketing nowadays.
These earphones are said to deliver high-resolution audio. And these are the codecs supported:
- LDAC - This can be found on Android devices, e.g. Samsung phones
- LHDC - This can be found on selected Huawei and Xiaomi phones
- AAC - This is used by Apple
- SBC
To find out more about Bluetooth codecs, see this article from Android Authority.
Price of the earphones is around US $100 - $130. Here in Singapore it's SGD 130 - 180. Prices can vary quick significantly depending on the seller so do compare prices before purchase. These are sold on Amazon SG, Shopee SG and Lazada SG.
These are the items included:
- Earphones
- Carrying pouch
- USB-A to USB-C charging cable
- 6 additional pairs of ear tips
- Quick start guide and warranty info
Build quality of the case is solid. The case looks good, is compact and portable. The matte textured surface is nice to hold.
The cover closes with magnets. Pairing is done with the case.
For pairing, you just have to press the button on the case three times, and there will be a moving red light indicating the earphones are looking for a connection.
The earphones uses Bluetooth 5 for pairing. Bluetooth connection is quite fast.
The company is quite generous with the extra ear tips. These are all silicone ear tips and are said to be anti-bacterial and can kill germs.
The silicone ear tips work well enough for sound isolation but personally I prefer foam tips. Diameter of the core is 6mm in case you want to get your own foam tips.
The earphone design looks good. The bulbous part will go in the ear so it's just the long tip that hangs out. The long tip isn't that heavy so there's nothing heavy outside to swing about when you're running. This earphone is IP-54 rated for dust and water resistance. This is a comfortable earphone to wear.
There are three microphones on the earphones. Call quality is alright in quiet environment and has distortion when there's background noise. In other words, call quality is so-so, very typical of most wireless earphones.
The earphones have touch control and they work very well. The touch controls are customisable via the Edifier Connect app available from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
The Edifier Connect software comes with the essential features, nothing more. You can see the battery life, choose different ANC modes (can be done with touch control too), adjust the EQ and set the shortcuts for touch control.
These are the pre-programmed shortcuts you set to the earphones.

Sound quality
Sound quality is good, probably 4 of 5 stars. Maybe 4.5 out of 5 stars after using EQ. I reserve 5/5 for IEMs so technically or subjectively speaking, wireless earphones will not reach 5/5 for audio quality.
I do enjoy listening to my music on these earphones. There's good treble and bass and some soundstage. I particularly enjoy the bass that you can hear and feel. Having said that, the audio quality is very typical of wireless earphones, and is good when judged against wireless earphone standards.
Noise cancelling is excellent. Easily 5 out of 5 stars. I use a table fan near me and I can barely hear the fan which is quite noisy. I can't even hear my wife who's talking next to me, to her annoyance of course.
My main wireless earphones is the Sony WF-1000XM3 that has been out for a long time now and can be found at SGD 150 - 170. Audio from the Sony sounds fuller and closer, relatively speaking. I could get the Edifier to sound similar with some EQ adjustment. The main downside of the Sony is most of the earbud sticks out so it's heavy outside and moves and can fall out if you run.

Conclusion
The Edifier Neobuds Pro looks good, has solid build quality, excellent ANC and enjoyable audio quality as a wireless earphone. The pricing is quite reasonable, but do compare prices because price can vary significantly depending on the seller. If you can get these are US $100 or SGD 130, that's a pretty good deal.
