A real review of tingkat companies in Singapore
I rely on tingkat services for home delivery of food. Here's a review of the companies that I've tried.
This is not a sponsored post. I've paid for all the services. What I've written below is just my opinion. I've linked to reviews on Google Maps so that you can do more research.
The prices that I've paid for includes white rice (usually charged separately) and may include extra charges for condo delivery. For actual prices, you can always see the latest prices from the company websites.
When ordering, it would be good to order from a company near your place so that the food does not spend too much time on the transport.
By the way, if you have good tingkat companies to recommend, let me know in the comments section.
Savoury Catering (2/5★)
Address: 1 Enterprise Road, Singapore 629813 (from their website), 30b Quality Rd, Singapore 618826 (on Google Maps)
Ordered 40 days, 4 dishes/day, dinner only for SGD 642 (average S$16.05 per meal)
Savory Catering (Google Maps) is a company under the Neo Group which owns other catering services.
I've ordered from them more than a year ago and I don't have much impression of their food. In other words, food taste is so-so.
Kim Paradise (2/5★)
Address: 30b Quality Rd, Singapore 618826
Ordered 40 days, 4 dishes/day, dinner only for SGD 642 (average S$16.05 per meal)
After being disappointed by the food quality provided by Savoury Catering, my wife and I switched to Kim Paradise (Google Maps). The food taste and variety is similar to Savoury Catering. Even the delivery guy from Kim Paradise is the same from Savoury Catering. And the sticker labels pasted on the plastic food boxes are also identical.
Upon some research, we found out that Kim Paradise is also under the Neo Group. And looking at the address, I suspect Savoury Catering and Kim Paradise might even be using the same kitchen, which explains the same delivery driver, food taste and quality.
So just to repeat, the food taste is so-so. Won't be returning.
Richfood Tingkat (2/5★)
Address: 8A Admiralty Street #02-01, FoodXchange @ Admiralty, Singapore 757437
Ordered 20 days, 4 dishes/day, dinner only for SGD 312.13 (average S$15.60 per meal)
I don't remember much about Richfood (Google Maps) which is to say that the food taste is so-so, unimpressive.
My wife and I had diarrhea on two occasions. Once we had a refund, and the second time no refund. The company said they did not receive complaints from other customers. So maybe my wife and I got our diarrhea from some other sources.
Select Catering (4/5★)
Address: 24A Senoko South Road, Singapore 758099
Ordered 22 days, 4 dishes/day, dinner only for SGD 403.92 (average S$20.20 per meal)
Select Catering (Google Maps) was a pleasant surprise because their food actually taste noticeably better than the earlier three companies. If the food is good, you can remember. That's why people keep going back to their favourite hawker or always eat the same dish.
I had ordered the tingkat for it to be delivered to Choa Chu Kang, but I've since moved to Jalan Jurong Kechil area and unfortunately the company does not deliver to this area.
Homely Delights (1/5★)
Address: 59 Jalan Pemimpin, #01-03 & #01-04, Singapore 577218
Ordered 20 days, 3 dishes/day for lunch and dinner, S$ 848 (average S$ 21.2 per meal)
Homely Delights (Google Maps) was okay, as in the food is edible. The food taste is quite similar to the Savoury Catering, Kim Paradise and Richfood.
I found this company on Foodline where the company has 4.6/5 rating. On Google Maps, the rating is 4.6/5 as well.
From the food that I've been eating, I don't think this is a 4.6/5 company. If the food is as good as the reviews suggested, then the previous company Select Catering can be considered to serve restaurant standard food by comparison. And no, I am not paid or sponsored by Select Catering to say this. I don't consider my standards high -- I can eat economy rice 30 days straight -- but seriously standard of Homely Delights is low.
There was a day with curry chicken and there's probably 20-30% meat and the rest bones. First dish is fried sweet potato or pumpkin? Anyway, it's bad. Only the vegetables have reasonable taste.
Once there was a delay and the food was delivered at 1pm instead of 1130am. An alert message was sent out in advance. But seriously if there's a delay, company should have canceled the meal because the customer has no idea how long the wait is gonna be.
When my contract ended, I was extremely relieved.
