Dempsey Hill Sketchwalk (28 Dec 2013)
This is the first time I'm at Dempsey Hill. Singapore's small but there are still places I've not been to. Yeah.
This is also the venue for the last sketchwalk of the year. It's only accessible by bus or if you drive. "The all new retail and lifestyle destination for those who know how to live it up," says the description for its website when I Google-searched for it. The restaurants there are quite pricey and is definitely not targeted at the general eating crowd. But it's a nice place with great ambiance. There are lots of restaurants to choose from.
This place apparently was also an old army barrack, similar to Gillman Barracks which was converted for commercial use. The buildings do retain their rustic charm, and there aren't any tall skyscrapers or HDB flats around.
There are a lot of good spots to draw. It's certainly a place that deserves several visits (for drawing). As you can see from my photos and compare it to the map above, I didn't even cover a lot of places.
Ink and watercolour.
