Book Review: 人体结构素描 (Human Anatomy Sketches)

It took me a while to decipher the long string of Chinese words that's above the book title 人体结构素描.

俄罗斯列宾美术学院绘画基础教学 means Russia Repin Institute of Arts Foundations.
That art academy goes by so many names it's confusing. There are

• Russian Academy of Arts
• Imperial Academy of Arts (Title on Wikipedia)
• Ilya Repin St. Petersburg State Academic Institute for Painting, Sculpture and Architecture
• St. Petersburg State Academic Institute of Fine Arts, Sculpture and Architecture
• St. Petersburg Academy of Arts
• Repin Institute of Arts

Six names!

This is a paperback that's almost A3 in size, but it has only 44 pages. This is the Chinese translated edition, but there's not much text besides the introduction, and there aren't much labels in the drawings. This book is probably used as a teaching reference there.

The art is great but coverage of the human anatomy isn't comprehensive. The sketches feature selected parts of the bodies and not from all angles, for example they do not show the back of the leg. There are also some life figure drawings.
