Danny Gregory seems to be using Dr. Ph. Martin's Watercolor Sets (dickblick.com). The colours look rich.

It seems like a good brand! Have you tried using the Dr. Martin's Watercolor sets? What can you say about them? I am thinking of trying out watercolor, and I get so confused with the variety of choices available in the market!

@Mariquita
I've not used Dr Martin's before.
If you want to get watercolours, I would recommend getting them in pan sets. Example: Winsor & Newton Bijou Set
Pan sets are more convenient so you can bring them everywhere.
There are student grades as well as artist grade. The artist grade is more expensive, but more economical if you can get them in tube form and squeeze them into the pan. If you're serious about watercolours, get the artist grade.

Thanks! Can you recommend a good book for water colour painting? I am an oil painter and I think in terms of the properties of oil paint. Trying out watercolours would be a challenge for me! So I am scouting for the perfect watercolour book...

Watercolor Artist's Guide to Exceptional Color is highly recommended. It has mention of pigments and properties.
If you're want a starter guide, you can try Watercolour for the Absolute Beginner. As the title suggest, this is for the absolute beginner. The exercises are very simple to follow.
A more advanced starter guide, but still suitable for beginners, The Complete Watercolour Course: A Comprehensive, Easy-to-follow Guide to Watercolour. The exercises are a bit more advanced but still manageable.

Thanks for this video! I'm a big fan of Danny Gregory and his works play a big part inspiring me to get my butt into gear and start to journal! :D I love Cathy Johnson's style too... she's great at teaching and her works are beautiful. Oh, and here's the info if anyone wants to know... that red sketchbook Danny is using is Fabriano Venezia. Apparently it's quite popular and highly raved about.
