Book Review: 野作 (Ink of Wild) Book 1 by Zao Dao
Here's another wonderful artbook from Chinese artist 早稻 (Zao Dao). Her previous artbook 松風 (SONG OF SYLVAN by ZAODAO) was one of my favourites from 2015.
野作 (Ink of Wild) is a two book set. I've made two separate review because the books deserve more coverage. This limited edition set is published by KEKO Creative Corp in 2017. Each book has 144 pages.
The artworks included in the first book are portraits and character designs. Zao Dao's characteristic brush line art and Chinese painting style is on full display again. I really love the textural look of the drawings. There's also very Asian and comic style to her work. The illustrations are lovely. There's also a certain casual and even cartoon-like vibe to her drawings. These are the sort of illustrations that inspire others to become artists.
If you want to get the book, just do a search for ISBN 9789869246323. Mine is a review copy borrowed from Basheer Graphic Books for review purposes. You can order the book from them. Check with Basheer on Facebook.
If you have the chance, or is lucky enough to still find the earlier book, get it too.

Just wanted to correct that
Just wanted to correct that Zao Dao is a female artist, so a correction is to be made on the opening statement. Other than that, love her work!
