Book Review: 鋼人(HAGANE BITO)―森下直親画集 Art of Naochika Morishita
鋼人(HAGANE BITO)―森下直親画集 is the art book collecting the illustrations of Naochika Morishita. He's a Japanese artist that does a lot of work featuring mechas. Title of the book actually translate directly to "steel man" or "man of steel".
Here's the list of titles featured:
- Mobile Suit Gundam Series
- Armoured Trooper Votoms
- Aurabattler Dunbine
- SPT Layzner
- Combat Armor Dougram
- Round Vernian Vifam
- Space Runaway Ideon
- Genesis Climber Mospida
- The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love?
- Macross Zero
- Neon Genesis Evangelion
- Zoids
- Armored Core: Last Raven
- Super Robot Wars
- Ultraman
- Masked Rider Series
- Dimension O
- Inuou
Gundam and Votoms take up almost half of this 130-page art book. The variety is great. The art is beautiful and detailed. On the metal robots are the dirt, dents, textures and in some cases oil and grease. I'm always amazed at how artists can do such technical drawings. There's an interview with Naochika Morishita but too bad there's no tutorial.
This book is for the mecha fans.
