Book Review: The Art of Star Wars: The High Republic
The saga continues
Let me just quote from Wikipedia what Star Wars: The High Republic (SWTHR) is about:
Star Wars: The High Republic is a multimedia project consisting of various stories from the Star Wars franchise set during the "High Republic" era, which spans 350 to 50 years before the Skywalker Saga and is set hundreds of years after the fall of the "Old Republic". The initiating event of the sub-franchise is "The Great Disaster" involving the antagonistic "space Vikings" known as the Nihil and the subsequent intervention of the Jedi.
I don't actually follow Star Wars even though I've reviewed numerous Star Wars artbooks. The book looks comprehensive but I can't tell if anything's left out.
From what I can see, this artbook is a collection of concept art for SWTHR which consists of books and comics. There are many beautiful artworks to see but the highlight is the lengthy text that talks about the designs, the characters and world building. This is a fantastic book for those who love behind-the-scenes content. There is a lot of insight from the planning of the story and designs.
Chapters in this book are:
- The Inspiration
- The Jedi
- Citizens of the Republic
- Enemies of the Light
- Ships and Vehicles
- Locations
- The Series
This is a book I can recommend easily to fans of Star Wars.
The book's a 224-page large format hardcover with dust jacket.
