Book Review: The Art of Watercolor Lettering: A Beginner's Step-by-Step Guide to Painting Modern Calligraphy and Lettered Art
This is the followup to the early book on brush lettering by workshop instructor and lettering expert Kelly Klapstein.
This book's a beginner's guide to brush lettering with watercolour. It assumes no prior knowledge so anyone can jump in and learn. The book starts off with the tools, paint and inks you need, then moves on the step by step exercises that fill up more than half of the book. The remaining pages are lined pages with faint letters that you can paint on top to practice your calligraphy.
Plenty of beautiful examples are included and they are really easy to re-create just by following the instructions which are always clear and concise. The letters with the beautiful colour transitions look so good.
This is a very hands on and practical book that I can easily recommend to beginners.
