Book Review: Black Book: The Art of Andy Smith
This is the fourth book from the Black Book hardcover artbooks from Ominous Press. Earlier books I've featured were for Bart Sears, Jim Starlin and Graham Nolan.
Andy Smith is a professional comic artists who started his career in 1991. He has worked for Marvel, DC, Image and other studios. This 112-page hardcover artbook collects selected artworks and comic pages.
This book has plenty of penciled pages before inks, and inked pages before dialogue is added. You can see Andy Smith's art in its true raw form and the art is fantastic. You'll get to see comic book art, commercial art, children's book art, private commissions, personal art, sketch covers and character designs.
He has worked on too many titles for me to list in this review. Only a few pages of comic art are featured from each title. The only downside to this book, just like the other books from the Black Book series is there could be even more pages.
