Book Review: Captain Marvel: The Art of the Movie
As expected, this is another wonderful artbook for another one of Marvel's films and this time it's Captain Marvel.
While the overall vibe of the book is still that of a typical Marvel movie artbook which is packed with lots of concept art, more specifically character designs, this book feels a bit more like a video game artbook. They have included more environment art in this artbook compared to the earlier ones. And those environment concepts of planet Hala and the Kree Empire look terrific. The city designs look futuristic, stylised and quite believable.
There are lots of character designs as usual of all the characters in the movie. There are many alternate costumes to look at. And if you're a fan of Nick Fury, you'll see him with all sorts of hairdos. Other concept art includes some storyboards and movie scenes. There's a good amount of text to read too that talks about the characters and film production.
These are the chapters in the book:
- Hala
- Torfa
- Mindfrack
- Backwater Planet
- Project Pegasus
- Binary
Highly recommended to fans of the film.
