Book Review: Character Design Collection: Fairy Tales & Folklore
This the second book from the Character Design Collection from 3dtotal Publishing. The first book covered heroines.
This book is meant to be a resource with over 2000 drawings made for 50 characters. The theme is fairy tales and folklore. Characters are mostly fantasy human or human-like characters, eg, wizards, witches, gnomes, trolls, knights, goblins. There are also creatures, e.g, tree folk, werewolves, centaurs, faun and many more. Classic characters such as Rapunzel, Snow White, Aladdin, Baba Yaga, Prince Charming, Sinbad, Pied Piper, Poseiden, Thumbelina, Pinocchio and more are featured. It's fun to see the artists' take on all these characters.
The drawings are all sketchbook-style drawings, almost all in black and white. I love the loose sketchy look. There are many designs included with plenty of notes from the artists. All the pages are packed to the brim with art.
This is a nice book for those into character design and sketchbooks.
