Book Review: ImagineFX Sketchbook
ImagineFX Sketchbook is a compilation of artist sketches that have appeared in the ImagineFX magazine from the last few years.
There are 62 artists included. You'll see artworks from Brett Bean, Craig Elliot, Dave Palumbo, James Jean, Jim Lee, Mattias Adolfsson, Mike Corriero, Ray Harryhausen and more! They are quite prominent artists and even the lesser known ones also have really fantastic sketches.
The book is hardcover and has 264 pages. So each artist just has a few pages but with those pages they are all packed with content. This is mostly a concept art sketchbook with character and creature designs.
The sketches are wonderful, really detailed. It's awe-inspiring to look at the work that these artists can create from imagination. Each artist has their own style and there are just so much things to look at. You'll feel like a kid visiting an amusement park. Additionally, there are notes by the artists that go with the sketches.
This is definitely one of my favourite artbooks of 2013. It should be one of the top artbooks or sketchbooks also.
It's as inspiring as Kim Jung Gi's sketchbooks but cheaper. The printing, paper and binding are excellent. So it's definitely worth the price.
I bought this around US$40 at Basheer Graphic Books. They seem to be the only one selling it currently. Check with them for shipping charges overseas. Not sure if it will ever appear on Amazon but I'll update when it does. The book's published by Basheer Graphic Books.
Most highly recommended.
