Book Review: NOBROW 9
NOBROW is a publisher that provides an independent platform for graphic art, illustrations and comics in the UK and abroad. They publish a variety of books, including the similarly titled NOBROW which is a magazine of art. This book is basically an artbook.
Volume 9 is a double-flip cover issue. One half contains illustrations, and you flip over to see the other half which has the short comics.
This particular issue is also a bit more special because it features silent comics. All of them are real nice.
Another interesting thing about the book is the use of spot colour printing. A very limited colour palette is used for the illustrations. If I can name them correctly, it would be pink, light orange and blue, in their different shades and combination.
The artworks are beautiful and the colouring is striking. All artists are credited on the index page.
By the way, the book is quite smelly because of the printing, but after a while it goes away. I would air it for a few days.
It's definitely a book that's worth checking out.
