Book Review: Urban Sketchbook Band I: Skizzenbuchseiten von Urban Sketchern im Deutschsprachigen Raum
Urban Sketchbook Band I is a sketchbook that features beautiful sketches drawn in Germany by 40 artists around the world.
This book is edited by Sebastian Koch, an illustrator and animator from Germany. Koch's the one I've to thank for sending me this review copy. And it's my pleasure to share with you all this wonderful book.
The sketchbook's a 180-page hardcover with a clothed spine. The paper used is those cream coloured newsprint-like paper. It's the kind of non-glossy paper that some magazines use for printing.
The artworks are lovely and a joy to look at. There are so many different styles to check out. You can check out line art, colours, different types of media used, and see how the various places of Germany are captured. It's a well curated selection.
The captions are in Germany but there are English translations on the last few pages. Anyway, you don't need to read to be able to enjoy the art. The text does add context to the drawings.
If you want to check out more works from the artists, their websites are also provided in the book.

This is a lovely and inspiring sketchbook. Highly recommended. Yet great addition to my other sketchbooks on the shelf.

At the time of this review, the book is listed on Amazon Germany, but it seems that it's not available for sale yet.
