Review: Galen Leather Expansi-Pouch Zipped Pen Case with Magnets

Galen Leather is a company based in Turkey that specialises in making leather products for stationery. I have actually reviewed several of their products before, and I'm also a customer with two leather desk pads that I love. This company makes very high quality leather products.

The packaging box looks beautiful.

This time the company sent me a new handmade fountain pen case they designed.

As seen above, the selling point is the removable pen holder trays and flap in the middle.

This pen case can hold 10 pens. Currently I have it holding my Sailor fountain pens with specialty nibs and other random pens including my well used Pelikan M200.

Shown above is a pink Pilot Pensemble soft leather pen case I bought in 2014 where the colour has faded. The leather has held up really well though. The pen case from Galen Leather is tougher and will definitely last. The two leather desk pads that I have from 2022 have held up really well under heavy usage.

I love the colour and texture of the leather. Colour options available are

Do note that the colours will change with usage and also from exposure to sunlight.

This is 100% vegetable tanned cow leather.

Each pen case is hand stitched using waxed polyamide thread. Edges are beveled, waxed and burnished for a finished look.

Stamp of the company logo is on the back.

There are two removeable leather pen holders with 5 elastic slots each. Note the vertical lines below the slots that were caused by me putting the pen in.

The back has some magnets (four?) that will attached inside the pen case. I like this design where the pen holder can be removed because you have have them out and it makes switching pens easy and fast.

The leather flap prevents the pens from hitting each other, and that is attached with velco and can be removed.

This pen case may be pricey but it definitely has the quality to match. And from what I can see with the quality of leather used, I am pretty sure this is going to last for a very long time. And I know that because my leather desk pads are still holding up so well.
