Review: Philips CL253 motion sensor LED ceiling light

This is not a sponsored review.

The light switch in my storeroom was located in an inconvenient location so I needed better way to switch on my light.

A quick search for motion sensor ceiling lights showed me results for a the Philips CL253, a 12W LED ceiling light with motion sensor. Price here in Singapore is SGD 60 and comes with 1 year warranty. That's considered expensive as a normal 12W ceiling light is under SGD 20.

I went with the 6500K daylight option instead of the 2700K warm light.

My house is under renovation so the electrician had fixed up the lights for me. The light is said to last for 15,000 hours which is around 5 years if light is on 8 hours/day.

There are a set of small switches inside that you need to customise to get the behaviour you want. You can click the images below for larger view.

Below are the settings you can adjust:

  • Sensor area: 25, 50, 75 and 100%
  • Hold time: 5s, 30s, 1m, 3m, 5m, 10, 20, 30m
  • Daylight sensor: 2, 10, 25, 50, disable

Since I have the light in a small store room, I'm using 75% sensor area which can detect me and/or the door opening, hold time of 1min which is long enough as I'm moving in the storeroom, and I disabled daylight sensor.

Design of the light works well, and the motion sensor is quite accurate. It's an expensive light but if it can last for years, then it's still a good buy.

If you're in Singapore, you can buy this from Shopee SG or Lazada SG.
