Baby Tricia arrives

This is my second baby girl Tricia who's born yesterday.

Tricia was born at Thomson Medical Centre while her sister Tiffany was born at KKH four years ago.

The service here at TMC is better than KKH that's for sure. The main difference is KKH has more student nurses. If you know students, you'll know that sometimes they have no clue what's going on. You can definitely see the difference between a professional KKH nurse and a student. The other difference is TMC has higher charges as it's a private hospital. The nurses at TMC would come in to check on my wife several times a day.

We stayed at the singled bedded room which is quite similar to a hotel room except with hospital equipment. It cost S$589 with GST at the time I'm writing this. There are better and more expensive rooms too, as well as shared rooms.

The food at TMC is pretty good too with nice variety to choose from. Each meal is S$20 not inclusive of tax.

The only thing I'm missing is the laundry room or laundry service.

Oh, there's one thing I don't like. The ART test for Covid is expensive. Price for the visitors and companion is S$51 and $40 respectively. The retail price of an ART test kit is ~S$5.60. So basically you're paying 7-9 times more just for a hospital staff to administer the test on you. And ART test results can only last for 24 hours. This is a cash cow.
